tpayne 001 📑 after the mission

A resounding success (if a bit of a nail-biter) from our agents on the ground in Finland tonight — the node has been deactivated. Now forgive me for jumping straight into business. If I'd had a single moment of free time I would've organized a ticker tape parade for you all, but as it is celebrations will have to wait.

The Veil Taper Protocols are almost ridiculously effective. We're seeing excellent levels of mental stabilization in the population. The only observed side effect thus far is some short-term memory loss. This is a landmark shift in the paradigm of our efforts against the Architects.

Although there's still some polishing to be done, I think we're ready to begin to set our sights on grander goals. And I'd like to think very big indeed. It'll be easy enough to evacuate a couple thousand people to our existing strongholds, but eventually we'll need to deal with a large city — New York or London, for example. I think we should begin planning for this sort of mission immediately even if it may be a ways off yet for us practically speaking.

On a less serious note I'd also like to discuss Bishop's choice of theme song. Not that I have anything against Rage Against the Machine, of course, but I see a lot of room to play in the aesthetic space. Maybe The Runaways next time?

Me and my team always do our best, but yeah: We need better resources for the big cities. We can't free them from the Veil and lead them to a worse life.

I agree, not discounting the need for more and better supplies. The only way it works is if we can make things better than they were before. I'm just glad we have good teams that we can rely on.

I remember how disoriented I was coming out. It's part of why I wanted to join Resettlement, to help people get back on their feet the way the Niko helped me.

It's hard to forget that feeling, sometimes I'd like to. That's why resettlement is lucky to have you leading them.

You're sweet, J. I think remembering it helps me do my job better.

It's just the truth. I try to remind myself of that too, especially in area prep, so I don't get too consumed by the work, but I can't say I'm too successful.

Well, I'm here to make sure you don't go off the deep end into your work.

Oh, I thought you were here because I'm genuinely a fun person to be around. Disappointing.

Friendship can be for a lot of reasons, but I think we can agree I'm the fun one.

I'm going to regret agreeing to that, but yes.
