I did not get seduced by one of the newbies, and if that ever happens, you've got permission to lock me up.

I don't really know what changed, honestly. I've been attracted to Jamie for a while now, but I didn't realize maybe those were some latent feelings rather than attraction alone, the more I think about it. Something's still holding me back, but I dunno how to pin it down. It's nice for now, though.

I guess [....] it's always been real nice in the beginning, you know? I'm pretty easily swept up by warm feelings. I convinced myself for a while it was better to never have them again — not possible to turn that off like a switch, in case you didn't know — than risk losing someone again. It's not that I don't trust him, because I do, but I don't trust my bad luck with love not to hurt me a third time even though any time we're together, there's only evidence that it's finally going to be okay. Third time's the charm, etc.

Is he worth getting hurt for if it doesn't last for whatever reason?

I think so. He's one of my best friends, so even if it didn't work out somehow, the foundation of our friendship would mean it'd be okay eventually. Unless it was a [...] permanent end.
