I'd like to take a moment and pick up the thread of Taryn's post the other day regarding setting our sights on grander ideals: namely, the resources needed for the aftermath of node destruction or deactivation near the bigger Pres cities. Resettlement's only part of the equation, but it's crucial in the aftermath of effectively ripping the carpet out from under their feet. A lot of us have been where they are. The benefit of a solid foundation after a traumatic experience can't be understated.
After having been to all three of our strongholds, these are Resettlement's top contenders for priority resources:
I'm feeling good about how if we can continue with the success we saw at Lammu, especially with that huge reduction in casualties, then we can see expansion in other operations. You've/we've got this. What are all ya'lls thoughts on the above?
Unrelated to the above, I had two people back out of their tattoo appointments next Saturday. If you had a concrete idea or even a concept of an idea, let me know and I can pencil you in. We can workshop whatever you want.
I'm gonna go kiss someone in the library now, sorry Niko.
After having been to all three of our strongholds, these are Resettlement's top contenders for priority resources:
- Space. Simply put, right now we don't have the space between all three strongholds to house the displaced until they're ready to be assimilated into one of our cities or a Pres city. Somewhere like NYC alone has 8 million people. Our biggest stronghold is in Russia; it can hold a maximum of 1000 people, not including our operatives. The Kamchatka Peninsula has a ton of abandoned Cold War-era bunkers. I'm betting on us to be able to secure another one and retrofit it to our needs.
- Medicine and medical supplies. When I touched base with the Mjóifjörður stronghold this morning, they mentioned at least 70% of their new displaced need medical care unrelated to the effects of the node destruction. Meds for chronic conditions, anti-inflammatories and antiseptics, Insulin, adrenaline, puffers. Leadership said most of who brought their meds with them will see it run out by the end of the month. Our Kamchatka stronghold is holding up with the medical needs for the moment, but their medical facilities could be improved with more beds and overall supplies. An MRI machine would be huge.

We are all very old, Adrián. Certainly old enough to understand the value of speaking plainly. You cannot bulldoze your way through an emotion and expect it to conveniently die of fright. If you do not address this, you will eventually stage some small and embarrassing tragedy in front of our peers, and everyone will know exactly why. And while I would normally enjoy the spectacle, I would prefer to avoid any additional scenes in which you melt down because you're put out I'm fucking your favorite boy toy.
Noldana.
It would be far easier and less fraught if it simply did die of fright, but sadly, it will not and, fair or not, I thoroughly enjoy blaming you. That said, there is nothing to address because there isn't a solution to it, Niko. This feeling is an unwanted pest plucking at the cobwebs of my heart, giving me something to have a crisis about that isn't the state of the world.
I won't ask him to not sleep with you. I won't ask you to not sleep with him. It's paternalistic and it shouldn't matter.
And he is not my boy toy, for fuck's sake.
Noldana.
These things happen. It is the tax one pays for being irresistible.
But you must remember: you, too, are lucky enough to be fucking me. One would think that should mitigate at least some of the distress.
