"Way I figure it, puzzles are for everyone," he reassures him, pushing some of the edge pieces he's pulled out towards him. "And it's a good place to hide away from people who think everyone should do a song."
Luke accepts a piece and stares down at the puzzle, his head tilted in contemplation. After a second, he slots his piece into what he expects is its mate. It fits seamlessly. "Don't worry, I won't pressure you." His hand moves for another piece, though he looks at Griff from out of the corner of his eye, the other man's profile. "Though it's not so bad, once you're actually in it. The karaoke moment, I mean."
"Not so bad if you can carry a tune in a bucket," Griff replies good naturedly, connecting a piece into the one Luke just laid. "And I carry one about as well as a dying whale." He grins over at him. "But I'm a very enthusiastic audience member and I'll cheer the loudest if you sing something."
He selects a new puzzle piece and makes another attempt at a match. This time, he’s not so lucky.
“I’ve actually got a duet with Delilah later,” he says, more mildly than he feels. “Seems like that’s a lateral move from being the randomly ordered number 4 on her kiss list.”
"Way to bury the lede!" Griff grins at him, leaning back in his chair. "No clue what this kiss list is, but hey! Top 5 and a duet? How're you feeling about it?" A pause, then, "Obviously you don't have to tell me, but if you're nervous or something, sometimes it helps to talk."
"Randomly-ordered top 5," Luke corrects. "I honestly don't know anything about the kiss list, other than I'm on it."
He purses his lips, thinking about how to respond. He is nervous, and he appreciates Griffin's offer to talk—he just wants to say everything the right way. Whatever that means.
"I guess I don't really think of myself as kissable," he says finally. "I mean, in pure physical terms, yes. Obviously. We all are. But I mean, I do feel nervous. And I don't want to make anyone unhappy."
