I’m glad you ask.

Statically, most people are right foot-dominant. That’s the workhorse foot— seems too obvious and aggressive for sabotage if you cut a hole into their right sock.
The left is the supporting actor, in a way. Makes someone think they stepped on a rock, or wore that sock out too quickly. It’s a curated choice by a prank sommelier (which I am not, of course).

For legal reasons pertaining to living in harmony on a small ship, this is just… thoughts!
